Foreign Minister of Austria (2000 – 2004) and EU Commissioner for External Relations (2004 – 2010)
Dr. Benita Ferrero-Waldner began her professional career in the private sector in the 1970s and entered the Austrian diplomatic service in 1984. She served as Secretary of State (1995 – 2000) and Minister of Foreign Affairs (2000 – 2004), and as European Commissioner for External Relations and Neighbourhood Policy (2004 – 2010).
In 2004 she stood as the People’s Party’s candidate for the presidency of Austria. Today, in addition to being President of the EU-LAC Foundation, Dr. Ferrero-Waldner is a board member of various enterprises and organisations.
