Following our successful launch event in Brussels last year, I am pleased to let our readers know that the Second Annual Meeting of the Eurasian Council on Foreign Affairs will take place at the Imperial Hotel in Vienna, Austria, on Wednesday 2nd December 2015.
This prestigious event looks like it will be pretty exciting. It will bring together nearly all Members of the ECFA Advisory Council under the aegis of the Chair of the ECFA Advisory Council, Dr. Benita Ferrero-Waldner, former Foreign Minister of Austria and former EU Commissioner for External Relations, who has been a terrific help in taking the organisation forward in the last year. What better place than Vienna to report on the progress made since our last major gathering? A beautiful city, sitting at the heart of Europe, with a longstanding history for bridging the different cultures of East and West.
The evening’s reception and dinner will be held in the presence of H.E. Erlan Idrissov, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, and the ECFA’s first Honorary President. The acceptance list is already very impressive and I am delighted to report that several Ambassadors and representatives from some of Europe’s leading institutions – among which the European Institute of Asian Studies, UNIDO, UNODC, UNODA, the Vienna Economic Forum and the University of Vienna – will be joining us.
I will keep readers informed of developments as they unfold. For the time being we are satisfied that this will be a seminal second year for the ECFA.
